This January transfer market proves to be a period of intense rumour and possible big-money transfers. Numerous prominent stars are being linked with transfers out of their present teams. We examine a selection of the top figures who could be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the forward available, it appears a significant transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old possesses a contract with a £65 million release clause active for a brief period in early January. Recent developments point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to excel for Palace despite a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to run out in the close season, this represents the club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has found starting minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Although being the club's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a small number of league matches. It is understood the London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the correct valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in Saudi Arabia. Still only 28, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January exit seems highly probable. Villa were once mentioned as a possible suitor, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England striker has kept scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the national World Cup. However, securing a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

This dynamic English midfielder drew widespread attention in the summer but stayed at Atlético. H. Elliott

Although excelling and being named the best player award at the Under-21 European Championship in the summer, this talented midfielder has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Aston Villa. The manager has confirmed the loan move will not become permanent. Due to specific rules regarding playing for two clubs in a campaign, a move back to his parent club before next season appears to be the only viable solution.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkey forward is in fine form for Juventus this term. As his current contract running down, many Premier League clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but are in a race to keep one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ side. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
